About OASFiS

The Orlando 2023 NASFiC bid is backed by the Orlando Area Science Fiction Society (OASFiS)

OASFiS is a fan-run club whose goal is the promotion of Science Fiction in all its forms. Launched in the 1980’s and incorporated in 1987 in the State of Florida as a not-for-profit organization, its members include science fiction fans from all over the central Florida area and beyond, including Orlando, Daytona, Titusville, Connecticut, Washington, and even on the road with the circus!

Many of the founding members were involved with MagiCon, the 1992 WorldCon, held in Orlando.

OASFiS  holds monthly meetings, and before COVID it also had a con, OASIS. Starting in 1988, the con was held annually in May. Because there were no other science fiction conventions in central Florida during that time of year, it was an “oasis in the desert” for SF fans.
